TheMovieWala believes in the spirit of movie making and not in bad mouthing the industry, which has become a recent trend. We make it a point, not to unnecessarily go with the flow and give a film 5 / 5 (that’s like, the best movie ever made) or nuke a movie by giving it a zero (that’s like, the movie was never made). Action Jackson deserved a probable .5 or maybe 0 / 5 but we know how much effort goes in making a film, how many people sustain themselves because of it and numerous enjoy it theaters even if it is
utter crap nonsense. Only Humshakals deserves a zero.
Hence, the 1 / 5
A sterile script, unrealistic action, insufferable songs and bad performances. That’s the pocket version of our review of Action Jackson.
Even though I really can’t tell you the story line of this movie, not just because there is nothing much to tell but also because I do not want to relive the horror of thinking about what I just saw. The movie revolves around Vishu, who is a small time thug in Mumbai. His love story with Khushi starts almost exactly how Akshay Kumar’s love story starts with Sonakshi in Rowdy Rathore. Vishu is on the wrong side of the cops and the International Mafia who are chasing him the same way as I want to chase Prabhudeva for a refund. Then comes the so-called twist- What is worse than a bad performance by Ajay Devgn? A double role of bad performances by Ajay Devgn. As the second half unfolds we find out that that the International Mafia and the cops are actually looking for Jay, who is the Up Market assassin and a look-alike of Vishu who used to work for the mafia earlier. So why are they chasing him? Because he said no to the underworld don’s sister who has the hots for Jay. But why would he turn down a super model? Because he loves Anusha, that is why. As the movie progresses, the Ajay Devgns help each other to emerge victorious on the bad guys and I have no prizes for guessing what happens in the climax.
If I sit here to scrutinize the performances, this might become a PhD thesis but I shall keep it brief. Ajay Devgn really does not need to do such cinema. To keep it plain and simple, it was a very poor performance by an actor who can practically enact any role. No expressions, nonsensical dialogues and rubbish action sequences.
Sonakshi Sinha, is still not tired of doing the same roles again and again. Absolutely same performance as Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg, Holiday etc. For Kunaal Roy Kapur? I still don’t know what he was doing in the film.
My favorite part of the movie was the interval, because I ordered for nachos, which were delicious.
TheMovieWala has a humble submission to the makers of such cinema. Please do not insult the audience’s intelligence by making such movies. We do not enjoy these movies, we do not find them funny, we do not find them entertaining and we do not care if they make a 100 Crores.
If you’re actually expecting a verdict after reading this review, you must be Prabhudeva or Ajay Devgn. Here it is- NO GO!
